Designed for this specialty market, Carlson Layout combines the "old methods" with new concepts to make your work more efficient than ever.  Use it with handheld data collectors with or without full keyboards, and provide instructions for stakeout using total stations, robotic total stations and even tape measurement.

Features

Special Layout specifications/abilities:
  • Ability to make standard entry of building pad perimeters using L and R buttons and distance entries.
  • Allows maximum use of the screen by using a zoom scroll bar and pop-up numeric keypads that are transparent.
  • Ability to create your buildings with points or with lines only, and draw and move around the screen with selectable "pen up" and "pen down" modes.
  • Stakeout can be by point number or by picking a building corner, with offset information provided to extend lines.
  • Building dimensions can be displayed on command or automatically based on zoom settings.  Zoom in close enough, and the dimensions are all revealed.
  • Automated layers allow focus on preferred features.  Just freeze out what you don't want to see.
  • Stakeout is designed to minimize keystrokes and maximize navigation to get work done. Stake out directly or at offset, with “extend line” offsets presented automatically.
  • Work in 3D – create sloping surfaces and be advised on elevation difference for every measurement, when setting grade. Layout easily handles curves as well.
  • Large buttons so work typically can be done without use of a stylus, using fingers to tap the screen and the arrow keys to get around.

Simple. Either sketch your building, or stake your building.  You can simply pick on the figure and start adding building lines – we call it “context-sensitive” commands.

Time-Saver.
Just touch the screen and go to work. Applies to corner stakeout as well. Just pick the point you are interested in, and select whether you want to stakeout the corner or an offset.

Gives Choices.
Choose from a set of revolutionary new methods such as “tap the screen” or “sketch from drawing” when designing buildings. In the screen tap method, just tap around the figure, reproducing its shape on a blank screen, and the lines square up, with prompts for the actual distance. Or, sketch out the building by tapping an image of the blueprint or drawing, then filling out the dimension information as you go or after-the-fact.

Store & Recall.
Store any shape in a figure library, and recall the shape followed by entering the new distances or altering the orientation and origin of the building figure. Patterns of columns can also be easily created, along with the offset points to the columns that might represent bolt positions for metal plates supporting the columns.

Has Built-ins.
Trenchwork and the placement of parallel forms is handled by a built-in “parallel” line entry mode. Column offset patterns are themselves provided in a library that you can add to.

Carlson Layout is designed for concrete and building contractors and applies to construction of buildings or any flat or sloping surface such as a large patio. And most importantly, it works on virtually all total stations on the market today, allowing you to use the same product regardless of your hardware preference.
