Carlson Civil,
Survey, and
SurvCE to
Colleges
and Universities
MAYSVILLE,
Ky. -- Carlson
Software Inc. recently
launched an all-out
effort to help
colleges and universities
throughout the
country better
educate their engineering
and surveying students
in the use of the
most up-to-date
land development
software.
The new Carlson
Software Educational
Program has already
provided free software
and data collectors
to the engineering
departments at more
than 43 schools covering
28 states.
“Your gift
allows our students
to work on projects
throughout their
time as a surveying
major, using the
same software as
professionals in
their fields,” wrote
Joan Jones, Dean
of Applied Studies
at Tyler Junior College
in Tyler, Tex. “Thank
you for your partnership
in educating these
students.”
Products available
to colleges and universities
include: Carlson
Civil, the company’s
flagship engineering
office product, which
contains robust functionality
for road design,
site and subdivision
design, and a full
compliment of tools
for working with
points, surfaces
and annotation; Carlson
Survey, an extremely
versatile, productive,
and intuitive AutoCAD-based
survey solution;
and Carlson SurvCE,
a complete data collection
system for Real Time
(RTK) GPS and Total
Stations with in-field
coordinate geometry.
“Carlson designs
its software to work
simply with a wide
variety of popular
instruments, file
formats, and handheld
devices,” said
Bruce Carlson, founder
and president of
Carlson Software. “Having
Carlson Software
to learn with enables
students to get the
broad background
they need to tackle
real projects. These
products teach, as
well as prepare,
and students progress
quickly because of
the intuitive interface.”
“In order
for our students
to be competitive
in the marketplace,
it is critically
important for them
to be well versed
in using the software
most commonly used
in the industry,” wrote
Leigh Perry of the
University of Kentucky. “Thank
you for helping make
that happen.”
Carlson Software
provides its software
for educational purposes
to qualified academic
institutions. In
addition, thanks
to an agreement with
Two Technologies,
which produces Carlson’s
rugged hand-held
computers, colleges
and universities
will receive up to
five hand-held data
collectors for use
by their students.
